A public charitable trust founded in 1992 in memory of Dr. Singh's father, the freedom fighter Shri Mahavir Singh. Since stepping away from the Civil Services in 2019, Dr. Singh has been active in public and political life — taking up, in his own way, the second half of the legacy his father bequeathed him. 2019 में सिविल सेवा से अलग होने के बाद से, डॉ. सिंह सार्वजनिक व राजनीतिक जीवन में सक्रिय हैं — अपने तरीक़े से, उस विरासत के दूसरे आधे भाग को सँभालते हुए जो उनके पिता ने उन्हें दी।

The late Shri Mahavir Singh (1907–1992) — Dr. Singh's father — was not only a freedom fighter and a Tamra Patra awardee, but a recognised social worker and political leader of Bihar. To carry that mantle forward, Dr. Singh today engages with public causes that matter to his community: the development of Mithila, the dignity of the rural poor, the recognition of the Girmitiya diaspora, and the strengthening of India's institutions of public scholarship. स्वर्गीय श्री महावीर सिंह (1907–1992) — डॉ. सिंह के पिता — केवल एक स्वतंत्रता सेनानी और ताम्र पत्र विजेता ही नहीं, बल्कि एक मान्यता-प्राप्त सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता व बिहार के राजनीतिक नेता भी थे। उस परम्परा को आगे बढ़ाते हुए, डॉ. सिंह आज अपने समुदाय के लिए महत्वपूर्ण सार्वजनिक उद्देश्यों से जुड़े हुए हैं: मिथिला का विकास, ग्रामीण ग़रीबों की गरिमा, गिरमिटिया प्रवासियों की पहचान, और भारत की लोक-विद्या संस्थाओं को सशक्त करना।

Dr. Singh serves as President of the Alumni Association of Jawaharlal Nehru University — convening generations of JNU alumni across academia, civil service, public policy, and public life. डॉ. सिंह जवाहरलाल नेहरू विश्वविद्यालय पूर्व छात्र संघ के अध्यक्ष के रूप में सेवारत हैं — जेएनयू के अनेक पीढ़ियों के पूर्व छात्रों को एक मंच पर लाते हुए, जो शैक्षणिक, सिविल सेवा, लोक नीति, और सार्वजनिक जीवन में फैले हुए हैं।

JNU is the institution where he completed his M.Phil. and enrolled for his Ph.D. in Political Science, and where he was selected for the Civil Services in 1986. Dr. Singh founded GGLASC as a section of the Mahavir Singh Memorial Trust, in active inspiration from and collaboration with the world-renowned scholar Prof. Dr. Shardhanand Harinandansingh. डॉ. सिंह ने GGLASC की स्थापना महावीर सिंह स्मारक न्यास की एक शाखा के रूप में की, विश्व-विख्यात विद्वान प्रो. डॉ. श्रद्धानन्द हरिनन्दन सिंह की सक्रिय प्रेरणा व सहयोग से।

The Girmitiyas — from the word girmit, a colonial-era contortion of "agreement" — are the descendants of the indentured labourers shipped out of India in the nineteenth century to British, French and Dutch plantation colonies.
